A company from Singapore called Vuestar Technologies says that it owns patent to "Internet searching via visual images". The technology in question enables Web sites across the world install to link images to other Web pages. They have sent out notification letters to quite a lot of companies demanding to be paid licensing fees. Apparently the next time a Web site uses pictures and graphics to link to another site or Web page will need a license from Vuestar. Showing a bit of compassion, Vuestar plans not to claim licensing fees from charities and government agencies. However the patent extends beyond Singapore and to "several parts of the world". Vuestar's patent tagged under publication number 95940 seems to have been granted in Australia, New Zealand and United States.
