Verizon Plans Leaked: 4G to Reach 100 million across US This Year

verizon_screen.jpg Documents leaked to Endgadget have sparked rumors of Verizon’s plans to launch super-fast, super- connected 4G to 30 American cities, by the end of 2010. The document, which has yet to be verified by Verizon, describes 4G as the next wireless network generation. It will use Long Term Evolution (LTE) and be rolled out in partnership with major international carriers, including Vodafone. 4G promises to be “zippy” with less lag time, so you will be able to access what you want, instantly. With 4G social networking, mobile entertainment and video conferencing will be seamlessly woven into our everyday lives. Sounds great, yeah? Actually, it sounds like my idea of a nightmare. What will be next? Babies with genetically-engineered social networking components? There is no escape.

The documents state that Verizon plans to roll out its LTE network to 100 million people across 30 US cities
this year. 4G smartphones and tablets should be out some time in 2011.
