US Army announces $3 Billion design competition for Bond like flying submarine

Bond-car-1.jpg We mentioned a while ago of a network of submarines that glide underwater, now it seems the US Army wants something that does both fly and glide underwater and over it. A flying submarine is what can best describe the vehicle they have in mind, and they are organizing a design competition to accomplish this goal. The competition specifies that the flying sub must be able to transport eight men and their equipment 1,150 miles (1,850km) by air, 115m (185km) by sea or 14m (22km) underwater - or a combination of the three - in less than eight hours, and then wait for up to three days to pick them up again.

DARPA has a budget of $3billion for the flying submarine; it will be exciting to see how this takes shape, considering that we only see such stuff in bond films.
