Touchscreens for E-Menus gaining momentum in new restaurants

touchscreen.jpg Upping the novelty quotient, many new restaurants are doing away with the menu card and opting for touchscreens that promise to keep diners entertained while they wait for their orders. Removing the sophistication of the maître d', one can expect fast, efficient service but of course the old-world charm of having someone waiting over you is all lost. If you fear germs contamination via the screen, the Israeli-based restaurant Frame (video) says only a few thorough wipes are all that's needed to keep the screen germ-free. Since human errors while taking orders do occur, one can expect a few glitches in the system to serve you the wrong order. However, ready or not, this new system in dining seems to be catching on fast, so if you belong to the old-school, hurry up and indulge in some grand service (leave a fat tip too!) before your neighborhood eatery goes the tech-way.
