Still banking on the HD-DVD Toshiba Japan has announced the Vardia RD-A301 it records on HD-DVD and has an internal 300GB hard drive for recording HD content. Apart from HD-DVD, Hard drive it can record your HD content on DVD discs too. Other features include dual TV tuner analog / digital so you can record two programs simultaneously on HD-DVD / DVD and hard drive. It has an Ethernet port, HDMI out and S-Video.

The Toshiba Vardia RD-A301 will be available by mid December in Japan for 100,000 Yen ($ 870). Complimentary with the recorder is a Transformers toy.
