This year at CEATEC companies have gone wild with LCD displays, Toshiba its 3.2 inch PMP which packs in a QVGA (240 x 427) OLED display. OLED displays offer a lot more than traditional active matrix displays they are brighter, more clear and have a better viewing angle. The best of all they consume less power which is a major advantage for portable devices like cell phones, videogames, etc.
