Toshiba Dynabook SS S30 Lightweight and Secure

toshiba.jpgToshiba Japan has announced the Dynabook SS S30 notebook which is slim in size but not on features. Targetted at business users looking for ultra portability it is powered by an ultra low voltage Core Solo U1300 (1.06 Ghz) processor with 512MB RAM (upto 4GB) on Intel 945GM Express chipset along with a 30GB hard drive. The laptop is rock solid as it has been tested to withstand a fall of 70 cms along with a couple of vibration, compression and shock tests. It has a 12.1 inch WXGA (1280 x 800) LCD display. The keyboard is also water sealed so it can withstand an accidental coffee spill. For security it has a fingerprint sensor, BIOS password lock, TPM (Trusted Platform Module) chip and SD card slot which for SD token cards. The system runs on Windows XP Professional.


Other specs of the Toshiba Dynabook SS S30 include USB 2.0 x 3, Firewire, 802.11a/b/g, Gigabit Ethernet, Modem, SD card slot, PCMCIA slot and CF card slot. The unit measures 283 × 197 × 26.9 - 35.5mm and weighs 1.19kg. However all these features in a slim form factor do come with a price of 252,000 Yen ($ 2165).
