Come December 10 and wealthy Japanese can get their hands on the most advanced television set ever created. The Toshiba Cell Regza 55X1 comes with the company's CELL platform which is a combination of the high speed parallel processing of the Cell Broadband Engine, specially developed for demanding multimedia applications, and Toshiba's advanced image-processing algorithms, the CELL Platform achieves an arithmetic processing capability approximately 143 times that of the current top-of-the-line REGZA TV. It boasts high quality sound, 240 hz video, a contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1, and brightness of 1250cdm2. The system is made up of a TV and a separate box which house the tuner and 3TB of storage. The Toshiba Cell Regza 55X1 is priced at 1,000,000 Yen ($ 11,000).
