Top 3 underwater robots

The swimming pool at Kobe university Japan was home to the first underwater robot festival. With around 75 % of our planet covered in water these robots will help us uncover secrets what lies in dark world underneath. Of the 21 robots showcased we pick the 3 most interesting and unique ones.
No 3 - Squid Robot
Developed by Osaka university it is 1 meter in length and has a servo motor on each side which move the rubber fins. As it is very thin it can easily enter hard to access areas like trenches etc. It is powered by battery which lasts for 3 hours.

No 2 - Underwater Glider
Another invention from Osaka university is the underwater glider manuevered via radio control it moves easily underwater. Too bad it cant fly in the air.

No 1 - Fish robot

The fish robot is developed by MHI solutions using elastic oscillation wing propulsion technology developed by Mitsubishi heavy industries. It moves just like a real fish using its tail and fins. A CCD camera can be attached to the front of the fish which for photographing images and transmitting them to the ground. The fish is 96 cms long and weighs 12kgs.
