They’ve take the ‘balls’ out of sports

sportpong.jpg The end of sport seems to be nearing here with the development of the ‘Sportpong’. It doesn’t require you to move a real ball around. In fact, it doesn’t even need to be out there, sweating in the field. It’s something like a Nintendo game that requires a players’ physical movements to block or hit a virtual ball. This wouldn’t be so bad after all but alas, the makes have made it such that players do not need to use their hands and feet either. It provides with paddles that have to be worn by users as they use these as reflectors on a projected field.

A camera is used to track the movement of the reflector. The software behind Sportpong was built using a cool multipurpose tool kit for real time video synthesis.
