The story behind Chris Nolan's Bat-Pod
I spent much of last week in anticipation for the weekend as the years and probably the decade's most awaited movie was to be released. First things first, the was the best comic book movie EVER. So this week, I've been busy reading articles relating to the Dark Knight, I just can't seem to get enough. Without giving anything away, the Bat-Pod moment in the movie was one of the most awe inspiring and got an applause from everyone in my theatre. Apparently this ultra cool bike was originally created by Chris Nolan. Talk about being genius and multi talented. Nolan and production designer Nathan Crowley put the mock-up together by gathering material from garages, junkyards and Home Depot. I wonder if they knew how awesome the junk was going to turn into. Chris Corbould, the special effects guy wasn't sure if this design was going to go anywhere. However, this is hollywood and everything is possible. He didn't have any clue about the mechanics of a motorcycle and he didn't even have a team of automotive engineers. Anyway, he got it made in the end, and thank god for that.
One amusing problem that Chris faced was would Batman's cape get caught in the Bat-Pod's wheels? Now, we can't have that happening to Gotham's most badass superhero, can we?
