The Santa Rosa-based Vaio CR series from Sony

They have a very luxurious, glossy finish and are framed with a silver, luminous trim. That’s what makes the new Vaio CR series from Sony very glamorous and sexy. Available in five colors: sangria, cosmopolitan, dove, indigo and black (matte finish); only the black one is available online. The keyboard features a specialized keyboard font plus an LED pulsates beneath the notebook’s trim telling you what the PC is doing; booting up, powering down, hibernating thus glowing and fading accordingly. The notebook comes with its own hip VAIO branded wallpaper and optional color-coordinated carrying bag and mouse. It weighs 5.5 pounds (with a standard battery). Getting down to the specs, the PC is has an Intel Centrino Duo processor, built-in 802.11n wireless LAN capabilities, it’s preloaded with Windows Vista Home Premium OS (with the Windows Vista Business edition optional). It has a 14.1-inch widescreen display and Sony’s XBRITE-ECO LCD technology, a CD/DVD player/burner and a set of speakers.

The Santa Rosa-based Vaio CR series from Sony has the “instant mode” button just above the keyboard that allows you to go straight to watching a movie, playing music, or viewing photos bypassing the boot. It also features LocationFree software, built-in digital camera, microphone, a suite of multimedia tools, DvgatePlus, Click to DVD software, Memory Stick Duo, Memory Stick Pro, SD card or ExpressCard media slots, an i.LINK IEEE 1394 port or USB ports and an S-Video port. It also integrates Intel GMA X3100 video and the display manages a 1280 x 800 resolution, and 2GB of RAM comes standard. The base model comes for $1,350 but the more expensive models haven’t been priced but include 200GB hard drive, a fingerprint reader for logging in without password. Available at the end of June but pre orders can be placed online.
