The “Cool Shirt” for race drivers
I had once heard that US army soldiers who were posted to hot places had their uniforms fitted with cooling systems or something of that sort to help them cope with the heat. Talk about pampered soldiers. But then again, that is probably hearsay. Well, here’s something that is a fact. Race car drivers now have something called the “Cool Shirt” to their disposal. This shirt was created as they are in cars for long periods of time without air-conditioning. As a result the drivers suffer from dehydration and exhaustion as a result of being in a hot car in the sun for several hours while wearing protective gear, a helmet and whatnot. I believe it is possible o lose several pounds to dehydration is a single race.
Now don’t go running to drive a car in the sun heavy clothes! This is not a healthy way to lose weight! Anyhow, the “Cool Shirt” circulates 45-60 degree water around the little pipes without actually getting you wet. It runs water from a ice-water cooler in the car and can go for three hours. Talk about innovative!
