Bone conduction headphones have been around in Japan for quite some time and here is an addition to the list, the Thanko Vonia EZ-4200Ps which are shaped like conventional headphones. However they dont rest on the ears but on the nearby ears of the skull. They simulate auditory nerves directly thereby providing sound without damaging ear drums when listening to Linkin Park. An added advantage is that when you are blasting the music on full volume you can hear surrounding ambient noises. Each channel generates 30 Mw of output.

The Thanko Vonia EZ-4200Ps are available in Japan for 9800 Yen ($ 80).
