Terrorist Proof Jets

Nearly five years after September 11, the airline industry is finally adopting new in-flight technologies to keep planes safe from terrorists. The jets will feature missile jamming lasers and software which wont allow the plane to crash. “With $110 million in grant money from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the Federal Aviation Administration is currently in the process of certifying two antimissile systems designed for commercial airliners.” The technology uses Infrared and UV sensors detect and track missile threats and Laser beams jam the missiles’ infrared guidance systems. This threat usually comes from shoulder fired missiles like the “Stinger“. If terrorists hijack the plane and try to crash it then Robo-Pilots State-of-the-art terrain-avoidance system prevents intentional crashing. Using GPS, the system first warns pilots of oncoming obstacles and if the pilot does not respond or change the ongoing course the auto pilot assumes control of the plane.
Another interesting feature is the Cabin Cams Multicamera closed-circuit video surveillance systems which provide views of the cabin and cockpit-door area to pilots. Live feed from the camera can also be beamed to the ground control center via satellite.
However implementing such features globally is sure to take a lot of time and money.
