Tanita SLP-101 monitors your sleep
![]()
Tanita Japan has launched the SLP-101 which monitors something which we all lack 'sleep'. Instead of attaching pesky monitoring cables all you have to do is sleep on the special mat and hit start on the monitoring device. The mat is filled with water and it measures sleep by measuring the pressure on the mat. The main unit has a 6.5 inch VGA display and runs on Windows XP, sleep is measured in 4 stages right upto deep sleep, so the next morning you get a fancy stock ticker like graph indicating the various stages you slept in. Finally it gives a score out of 100 where 100 indicates perfect sleep I doubt anyone except a new born baby would score that. However if your score is below 51 you need to get in touch with a doctor.
The Tanita SLP-101 goes on sale in Japan from July 25 for 525,000 Yen , now that is something which give me insomnia.
