Talented Robot turns chef
Till now I thought Sushi was the penultimate in Japanese cooking but apparently okonomiyaki is another favored savory that satisfies the Japanese taste buds. For the ignorant (including me) okonomiyaki is a pan-fried batter cake made with various ingredients. Showing off its culinary skills the Motoman SDA10, an agile dual-arm industrial robot dished out okonomiyaki at the International Next-Generation Robot Fair in Osaka. A product of Yaskawa Electric, the robot is designed to work independently alongside humans in the workplace. So next time you turn around, don't be surprised to find a deft robo helping you with your job!
The Motoman SDA10 stands 135-centimeter (4.5 ft) tall, weighs 220-kilogram (480 lb) and has 15 joints; 7 in each arm and one in the torso. This many joints allow the robo to move easily and follow a wide range of motions. It relies on speech recognition technology to take verbal orders and then executes them efficiently.
