Synaptics Fuse is the most ‘touchy feely’ mobile handset yet
A little while ago, a joint effort between a few very respected companies in the technology community which included - Synaptics, Texas Instruments, Immersion, TheAlloy and The Astonishing Tribe (TAT) produced a very unique handset called the Synaptics Fuse. Unlike any other mobile handset of the touchscreen variety, the Fuse incorporates capacitive and force sensors all over the device including the sides and rear. The UI and system is designed to offer users a higher level of interactivity with the device using just one hand. The built-in sensors at the rear would even allow users to access information without having to actually touch the display itself.
Each company had an important part to play in the Fuse’s make up. For example TheAlloy was responsible for the design, TAT developed the 3D graphics and UI, Texas Instruments provided the OMAP 3630 processor while Immersion provided the haptic feedback functionality. It still hasn’t been established when the device would be out officially nor is there a price tag on the same so it’s nothing but a waiting game for now.
