Steorm is finally back with a real product, the USB Hall Probe

usb-hall-probe1.jpg Back in July 2007, Steorn planned to launch its perpetual motion machine, the Orbo that promised to usher in a new world of clean, free energy. But the plan foiled when the machine mysteriously broke during the demonstration and the media ripped off the company for a few weeks after that. Well that sure didn’t stop Steorm from launching its new, fully functional product, the USB Hall Probe. This new product is a conductor, which is used to detect fluctuations in a magnetic field. Well that’s just a fancy way of putting it; it is actually similar to one of those cheap boxes which detect electric wires behind walls. This fancy sensor also comes with Windows software to give you all the readouts and graphs similar to a gaussmeter. All this comes for a whopping $400, a very expensive deal compared to other gaussmeter, which is priced between $13 to $1000.

The USB Hall Probe is just a probe and sensor that measures and the PC does the processing using the software provided with it. Considering this, it turns out way more expensive than a gaussmeter that does much more than this! Considering the past events, there is a reason to be cynical about this product.
