At the Automotive Technology 2008 in Japan Jtekt demonstrated something which we all have been waiting for. A joystick which replaces the good old steering, as seen in the video the joystick comes up just as in the movies. The system is hooked to a GPS which adjusts the turning speed according to the road ahead so that the car does not roll over at a sharp turn. The technology is yet to be perfected, I am betting that the 2012 Prius will be equipped with one.
