Stantum to demonstrate Finger-Pressure Detection tech at the MWC

Stantum_Finger-Pressure_Detection.jpg Stantum Technologies, a pioneer in the development of multi-touch sensing technology, is demonstrating at the Mobile World Congress next week a unique new finger-pressure detection capability of its patented PMatrix which is a resistive multi-touch detection platform that lets users simultaneously move and unlimited number of fingers, fingernails or utensils on a screen. The new feature can differentiate between three levels of pressure such low, medium and high. Depending on how strong the user touches the screen, the device is able to react differently.

Finger-Pressure Detection's sample applications can be used in camera shutter where a half pressure could mean auto-focus and full pressure to take the picture. In addition, this feature improves the comfort and reliability of typing on a touch screen by allowing the device to visualize which key the user would press before it is actually pressed. Now that can be a technology for the modern touch-screen cellphones!
