The Sony VGF-DT1 looks definately cooler than the Apple TV and works on a totally different concept. Unlike the Apple TV it does not wirelessly sync with the PC to download TV shows and movies to be played on the TV infact the Vaio DT1 is just a fancy TV tuner. It has a digital TV tuner and a variety of AV outputs including Ethernet and HDMI unfortunately it does not have Wi-Fi for streaming TV content from the living room to your PC in the bedroom. It can be connected to a PC running Windows, it records and transmits video in DR (24Mbps) /HR (12Mbps) /SR (8Mbps) /LR (4Mbps) modes. It is actually an accessory for Vaio TP1 media center PC's.

The Sony VGF-DT1 external TV tuner is available in Japan for 50000 Yen ($ 415) it measures 270×270×51mm and weighs 1.7 kg.
