Sony FVA-U1 is world’s smallest USB finger vein reader

Sony_FVA-U1.jpg We have seen finger vein readers before, but this one by Sony is totally in a league of its own. Firstly, because it is extremely light and small in size; secondly because it is as good as its larger predecessors in ensuring the safety of your system via USB. Finger veins are the new means of protecting your system from unauthorized access. It’s a step ahead of finger print scanning, and goes under the skin to detect vein patterns so as to match it with the pre-entered pattern and grant/deny you access accordingly.

The Sony FVA-UI USB finger vein scanner weighs just 33 grams and has dimensions of 70 x 14.5 x 58 mm. It is expected to hit Japan by December 18th.
