Sony Ericsson has announced the M600 phone and messaging device. This is a fully-specified email tool and mobile phone rolled into an extremely stylish, slim device featuring a touch screen and handwriting recognition. M600 is the second Symbian OS 9.1 and UIQ 3.0 enabled phone in the Sony Ericsson portfolio after the Sony Ericsson P990. The triband GSM UMTS phone has a 2.6 inch (240 x 320) touchscreen capable of displaying 256K colors. The M600 has 80 MB of onboard memory and a Memory Stick Duo Pro slot. It's Media Player software supports MP3, AAC, ACC+, E-AAC+ and m4a file formats. It has Bluetooth, Infrared and USB 2.0. In addition to POP3 it supports a wide range of proprietary push email applications like AlteXia, Ericsson Mobile Office (EMO), iAnywhere OneBridge, Intellisync, Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, RIM - BlackBerry Connect, Seven and Visto.

The M600 comes with a 64MB Memory Stick Micro (M2) the first Sony Ericsson product to support the compact Memory card. The M600 is available in Granite Black and Crystal White and starts shipping during Q2 2006. The unit measures 107 x 57 x 15 mm and weighs 112 grams. It will be available in two varaints. M600i - Dual Mode UMTS 2100 MHz, GPRS 900/1800/1900MHz for Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific and the Americas M600c - Dual Mode UMTS 2100 MHz, GPRS 900/1800/1900MHz for Mainland China (Launch for mainland China dependent on availability of 3G services.)
