The 49th SID International Symposium, Seminar & Exhibition (SID 2011) had Sony Corp walking around with its head held high, holding up its new 13.3-inch flexible color electronic paper for everyone to see. The company has finally perfected the e-paper technology, with a thickness of 150μm or less and a weight of 20g or less, using plastic substrates for the paper. The e-paper boasts a contrast ratio higher than 100,000:1 with 13% color gamut on NTSC standards and a 10% reflectance. The flexible screen sports a pixel count of 800 x 1,200 with sub-pixel measuring 169μm x 169μm.
A pat on the back for Sony Corp for all the effort they’ve put into conceiving this one!
