Sony BDZ-V9 and BDZ-V7 Blu-Ray Hard Drive recorders

After making the annoucement for Blu-Ray recorders Sony kept mum for some time, but it has broken the silence with the BDZ-V9 and BDZ-V7 Blu-Ray Hard Drive recorders. With two digital and one analog recorder both models can record two TV programs at one time. One drawback is that they can access only single sided 25GB Blu-Ray discs and not the high capacity 50GB double sided BD-R/BD-RE discs. Playback of the new AVCHD discs is supported. The higher end BDZ-V9 comes with a 500GB hard drive supports DLNA streaming to a connected PC and can convert media to MPEG-4 format for the PSP the BDZ-V9 lacks these features and packs a 250GB hard drive. Images from your digital camera can be stored on the hard drive to be later recorded on a Blu-Ray disc. Both the models support 2X Blu-Ray recording, 1080p full HD, Electronic programming guide and be programmed to record using a NTT DoCoMo cell phone
The Sony BDZ-V9 and BDZ-V7 will hit stores in Japan on Dec 8th for ¥300,000 ($2,550) and ¥250,000 ($2,120 ). Both the units measure 430×365×105.7mm however the BDZ-V9 is on the heavier side weighing at 9.6kg and the BDZ-V7 at 7.9kg.
