Sony BDP-S300 Blu-Ray player is now cheaper

Good news for those of you who have been waiting to buy a Blu-ray player. Sony's BDP-S300 player that was launched in February cost $599, but now since Sony has shaved-off $100, the player now costs $499. This move has been touted as the fastest price decline in the industry. The new player is much like the older BDP-S1 albeit comes in a smaller size. The economics suggests that since there is a growth in demand for Blu-ray players and the production costs have fallen; the player comes cheaper. Bring 'em on Sony, we're not complaining!

Blu-ray has stronger support than the HD DVD format. The increase in Blu-ray disk sales is also credited to the fact that many people are buying it for their PS3 (the cheapest version costs) consoles. However watching movies on the console is a compromise due to the relatively loud fan. It's good enough for gaming though.
