Solar powered patio umbrella

Although large umbrellas provide shade from the hot sun, the occupant beneath the umbrella is still subjected to the high temperatures of the ambient air. This idea is an umbrella assembly comprising a support base with table top and a shade covering, which are perched on top of an elongated shaft. The base is made up of a hollow container, which can be filled with ice or chilled water. A pump within the shaft draws chilled water up through to atomising spray nozzles that are arranged around the perimeter skirt of the umbrella cover.

Also contained within the base are a number of fans to circulate the cold air and expel it through louvered vents at deck chair level to cool the occupants sitting beneath the umbrella. The shade covering comprises resilient panels, which are fitted with solar cells to recharge power batteries contained inside a disc-shaped power hub, located at the top end of the shaft.

Due to the solar power source, the shaft of the umbrella assembly can be fitted with a television monitor and speaker system to entertainment the occupant while enjoying the cool environment beneath the umbrella covering. Via - IOL
