Software piracy in India

While Microsoft managed to sell a measly 244 copies of Windows Vista in China, I am sure the figures in India would be somewhere close. In Bombay (Mumbai) there are small shops on every street which sell everything from Visual Studio 2005 to WIndows Vista to GTA Vice City and surprisingly all the software's have a standard price Rs 50 around $1. A single stall will suffice all your software needs as apart from standard programs and games they also sell specialised software like 3DMax, Autocad, Maya, Borland etc which officially costs thousands of dollars.
But as Microsoft says "piracy makes you lose money today, but tomorrow the gain will definitely outshine losses".

it happens in most Asia countries.
for example, here in Indonesia, you can buy any pirated software for about U$1-2 from a street vendor.
