Sharp shows the future of LCD - 50 inches wide and 20mm thick
![]()
Sharp Japan has showcased a super thin experimental LCD and is calling it the future of televisions. And I completely agree with Mr. Katayama President of Sharp Electronics, the LCD is 52 inches wide and a mere 20mm thick which is around 1/5th the thickness of current 52 inch LCD's. It does not end here the TV has an astronomical 100,000:1 contrast ratio and the quantitative annual electric consumption is just 140kWh/year. There is still some time before these are available at Best Buy, the factory is scheduled to start production by March 2010.
