Semacode takes advertising and shopping to a new level

Brands are resorting to high-tech measures to lure customers into buying their products at instant whim. The latest techie style is the Semacode tag that actually lets you shop for the product as soon as you lay your eyes on it. Recently H&M has initiated a fascinating ad campaign involving billboard and magazine print executions that contain an embedded code, which can be photographed with your cell phone. The code then allows access to H&M's product catalog through which products can be bought and charged to the cell phone user's account. Some time back we did mention about the Polo Ralph Lauren’s store window that has also becomes a virtual store. But this H&M style has gone one level up and offers an opportunity to shoppers to shop at an impulse.

This means more self-control from your end if you are a spendthrift and are trying to curb your spending habits.

I was in Japan last year, and I saw these things everywhere. In fact, I took a pic of one from a tray in McDonald's.

I never got to see exactly what most of these things did, as I didn't have a phone to be able to utilize this, but Japan has successfully accepted a similar system on a wide scale.
