Self-portrait machine guides your hands, compromises real art
Keeping aside all the sympathies we have for masters of the fine arts, let us appreciate this new form of digital art that’s gradually making itself known to all. Say ‘hello’ to the Self-portrait machine that helps you draw your own sketches, with your hands (no pun intended). It has to be strapped to the wrists of the individual, while the pointer finger is inserted into a little hole in the robotic arm. A picture of the person sitting before the machine is clicked, which is then used to manipulate an image that looks like the outcome of a traced sketch in Photoshop. The idea seems to be quite a replacement for the already struggling caricature artists around the globe. I wonder how pleased they will be to read this.
The Self-portrait machine is the brainchild of Jen Hui Liao.
