Sanyo Epson imaging a subsidiary of Seiko Epson corp has developed a TFT display which a viewing angle of 180 degrees. Unlike other LCD's the screen appears bright and colors remain unchanged when viewed from any angle. With existing wide-viewing-angle LCD panels, the contrast ratio declines to around 10:1 when seen from an angle, however this new display offers a contrast ratio of 500:1 when viewing head on and a contrast ratio of 100:1 when viewed from an angle. The company has developed five panels in sizes ranging from 2.4 inches to 10.1 inches and will be used in mobile phones, digital cameras and automobiles.

Seiko Epson imaging will be launching production this fall.
