SSD may have penetrated the market now boasting high speeds and robustness, Seagate still thinks that it can push a new line of HDD into the market to keep the gamers or enterprise happy. The Seagate Savvio 15K.2 is a 15,000rpm 2.5in model targeting the enterprise space and the minted gamer. Running a SAS 2.0 interface running at 6Gbps speeds, the Savvio 15K.2 utilizes larger topologies, 100 per cent faster data throughput, and higher internal strength over greater distances meaning it’s massively scalable and RAID friendly. Seagate even claims the drive can provide up to 115 per cent greater system-level performance compared to 3.5in based service-class units. Featuring seek times of just 2.9ms, while idle power consumption is just 5.8W. The 15K.2, which is available with an optional self-encrypting drive, consumes 70% less power than competing 3.5-inch drives.
The Seagate Savvio 15K.2 will come in 146GB and 73GB capacity options and is expected to ship by December.
