Samsung UbiSync LCD monitor plugs in via USB

Hot news from CeBit states that Samsung is to come out with the world's first USB-connected display, which also needs no graphics card. The UbiSync LCD monitor has a 19-inch 1280-by-1024 screen. It uses a software graphics adapter which it downloads to the PC when it is plugged into a USB 2.0 port. The monitor does not need the coneventional VGA or DVI ports. The British-developed video networking technology from DisplayLink has been used in the monitor. It includes a four-port USB hub, so up to five monitors can be connected via a single USB port on the PC. With the USB connectivity one can hook multiple screens to laptop as well. Samsung claims that the USB monitor is capable of 32-bit color and DVD-quality video playback, inspite of using software on the PC and a video chip in the screen, instead of a graphics card in the PC.
Samsung’s UbiSync LCD will be out in May for $678.
