AMOLED stands for active-matrix light-emitting diodes and is clearer than the LCD, even in sunlight. Samsung is gearing up to start the manufacture of AMOLED mobile phones. They made this announcement in Korea, and have said that they will to start manufacturing for the Far East market and four new models are being developed initially. These rendered images and screen sizes of 2.6-inches and 2.8-inches are the only info on hand.

With their announcement Samsung one-upped LG Philips LCD, Sony and Toshiba Matsushita Display Technology who are also working on AMOLED solutions.
