Samsung, together with TeliaSonera is all set to bring forth the world’s first Long Term Evolution (LTE) device. LTE is looked upon as the most fascinating and anticipated technology for 4G phones. It is basically a USB stick that can connect to a laptop or a computer, and incorporates Samsung’s LTE modem chip, called Kalmia. This chip supports 2.6 GHz band for LTE service. This new technology will open new possibilities and windows for more user friendly applications to be developed, that will take real-time interaction to a higher level.
Samsung’s LTE technology is fully compatible with the newest 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) Rel-8 standard. With four seats in the wireless networking standardization working group occupied by Samsung, we can well define who the big players in the game are.
