Samsung SCH-W579 also known as the world phone has hit mainland China and other Asian markets, the phone offers world roaming as it supports Quad band GSM 800 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 as well as dual band CDMA 800 / 1900. The clamshell has a 2.6 inch internal touch screen display supporting 240 x 320 pixels and 260k colors, the internal display is 1.1 inches wide supporting 65k colors. It has 40Mb of internal memory and a Micro SD card for memory expansion. The SCH-W579 has a 2 Megapixel camera with LED flash and a 180 degree rotating lens. It has a jog dial on the side for changing tracks and adjusting volume during MP3 playback. The handwriting recognition and OCR feature supports Traditional Chinese text only. Other features include Bluetooth, Media player and world clock.

The Samsung SCH-W579 measures 95 x 54 x 21 mm and weighs in at 133 grams. It is available in select Asian markets for 35599 TWD ($ 1050).
