Samsung intros ultra-thin 8MP phone camera

samsung-8mp-camera.jpg They are calling it the world's smallest high-resolution cameras; we are talking about Samsung's 8-megapixel phone camera that is kinda as wide as a coin and a third of an inch thick. They say it will fit into phones that are slimmer than the ones that host 5-mp cams. The sensor is also more powerful than most at its size with up to ISO 1600 light sensitivity, anti-blur and noise correction, and both face and smile detection for portraits. Optics is also flexible with a 30mm wide-angle equivalent and extremely close macro shooting up to 0.4 inches away from the lens. Samsung says that the camera will be used in Korea and in other countries and will be fitted into phones, digicams and other portable media devices.

Production samples of Samsung's 8-mp phone camera will be out in May but shipping products will probably start sometime in the second half of this year. The company has not named any launch partners as of now.
