Safe Eyes Mobile protects reckless kids from surfing on the iPhone

iphone-safeeyes.jpg Apple quietly began approving third-party mobile web browsing applications for download from the App Store, the move does signal some new leniency in App Store approval policies. Nevertheless, the iPhone being the powerhouse that it is does not manage to secure the content from the web from innocent eyes of the unsuspecting kids that may fall prey to its allure. A new software promises to change that, Safe Eyes Mobile checks requested websites against a blacklist of potentially objectionable addresses barring users from visiting them. Parents may also configure the software to filter sites in more than two dozen categories. Safe Eyes Mobile otherwise promises a user experience comparable to the embedded iPhone browser, complete with pinch and tap zoom, bookmarks and Google search and multiple pages.

The Safe Eyes Mobile application carries an introductory price of $20.However, the new applications are all based on the iPhone's existing Safari browser technology, meaning it's still unlikely rival browsing engines like Opera Mobile or Firefox will earn Apple's thumbs-up anytime soon.
