Russians building large ship to bump meteor before possible collision in 2029

Asteroid-strike.jpg The Russians are gearing up for an Armageddon (end of the world and Hollywood) styled calamity attack. According to various space agencies a meteor, that’s been dubbed Apophis, is heading our way and is expected to pass close to the Earth in 2029 and again in 2036. Of course it’s also possible that it could hit as well. In light of this, preparations are being made to ensure the ‘survival of the human race’. While it may seem like a bunch of sci-fi dribble, it’s all quite true and the possibility of large meteor colliding with our planet is high enough to have people at levels like the head of the Russian space agency in tizzy about evasive procedures. Their idea, since we have quite a bit of time, is to build a space craft that will be designed to simply bump the oncoming asteroid off it’s collision course. There have been other ideas tossed around as well and of course there’ s always the option of sending Bruce Willis up there to blast the rock into bits. But on a more serious note, I’m just glad that there are more intelligent ideas being formulated other than just pressing the big red button and firing off a load of nuclear missiles.
