RIM apparently planning on announcing new BlackBerry Bold with touchscreen and web-friendly OS

RIM’s BlackBerry Storm proved to be quite a ‘natural’ disaster as the SurePresstouchscreen didn’t bode well with the overall mobile community. The Strom 2 seems to be faring a little better so far. But to cater to their vast number of users, it seems like RIM has a little somthin’ somethin’ up their selves in the form a new touchscreen device. The funniest thing is the rumors are not talking about a full touchscreen handset but something along the lines of the Bold editions. So what we could expect to see is a new addition to the Bold range that will have a full QWERTY keypad and incorporate a touch-sensitive landscape display. RIM also apparently intends to release a new web-friendly OS possibly with this device.

If it’s true and this is the design we might see, I have to say I’m quite disappointed. Here’s what I’d like to see, the Strom 2 with a slide out QWERTY keyboard. Now that would be awesome.
