RIBA, the nurse-bear-robot

It’s quite a bit of a task, holding back your fear as the nurses grapple with gravity, trying to get out of the operation table and onto the wheelchair so that you can be whirred into your room to show your waiting relatives, that you survived. So to assist them in this trivial task of moving a not-so-dead body over the table, we have a bouncer styled robot called RIBA (Robot for Interactive Body Assistance). Besides the wheelchair, the robot can also transport patient, effectively to the lavatory, without a fuss. The best part is that it is made to look like a giant, white teddy bear. It can pick people weighing up to 135 lbs (a little about 60 kilos). This means that it’s bound to have women in its arms most of the time.
The picture make the whole process seem quite harmless and proven. RIBA was developed at Japan’s Institute of Physical and Chemical Research. Send one over here please, I need to make it to the door, there’s someone ringing for the past half hour and I’m too laden with bacon to move a toe.
