Rental car burglar stole by tracking on GPS
I never thought reality can be so much more entertaining than fiction. After you read what a 30 year old unemployed man did you will agree with me too. Mitsuhisa Kobayashi, of Itami, Hyogo Prefecture, stole 8 luxury vehicles from a rental car company. Well it's not exciting that he stole these vehicles, millons of cars are stolen everyday; its how he did it. The story goes that he was previously a car assembly worker and used his specialist knowledge to install a small GPS device, or a cell phone equipped with GPS, inside the cars, in locations that would carry an electric current even when the engine was turned off. Then on Jan. 20 with the help of his two former wives, who collected and took cars to and from rental firms removed the dashboard panel of a rented car, placed a small GPS device inside, copied the key and then had the car returned. Rental cars are often shuttled between branches of a rental firm, meaning their whereabouts are not fixed. When dealing with the rental firms, Kobayashi's former wives displayed their drivers' licenses, which had not been updated since their respective divorces and so listed their surname as Kobayashi and their address as that of Kobayashi's residence.
On the night of Feb. 8 he stole the car, worth about 2 million yen, after using the GPS device to locate it in a parking lot in Nishinomiya in the prefecture. In December, he used the same technique to steal a 2.5 million yen car rented from the same Takarazuka firm after tracking it to Toyooka, in northern Hyogo Prefecture. Even when he was caught he had 3 stolen cars with him, the rest he sold of on the internet. All he said was that he wanted to drive his favorite cars, well buddy don't we all wanna do that? I wonder if he had a mistress who tipped the police because she wanted hers in red!
