Pentax has announced a significant price adjustment on the *ist DL digital SLR camera with 18-55 DA lens kit. The price reduction from $799.95 US to $599.95 takes effect from today. Pentax is the first camera manufacturer to offer a digital SLR kit at a price that entry-level users can afford," said Ned Bunnell, marketing director, Pentax. The *ist DL has a 6 Megapixel CCD sensor a large 2.5-inch color LCD monitor, and compatibility with most interchangeable Pentax lenses. It incorporates a high-speed shutter unit, with a top speed of 1/4000 second and a top synchronization speed of 1/180 second, to assure greater visual creativityThe *istDL uses the widely available SD memory card as its storage media.

The Pentax *ist DL measures 125 x 93 x 67 mm and weighs 470 grams.
