Onkyo HDC-1.0 the carry on jukebox

Onkyo Japan has announced the HDC-1.0 a HD audio PC. The stylish jukebox is powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 processor at 1.66 Ghz and 1 GB RAM. The 120 GB hard drive is really disappointing as Windows Vista Home edition along with other utilities will suck up 7GB leaving just 100 GB which is not much for someone buying a PC exclusively for music. Specs include DVD super drive, Gigabit Ethernet, 6 x USB 2.0 and Firewire. The most important feature is sound and the HDC-1.0 has a custom made SE-90PCI sound card designed for playback of 24bit/96kHz sound. Also included is a bi-directional remote with a LCD for displaying song information. The unit measures 205×240×92.5mm and weighs 3 Kg.

The Onkyo HDC-1.0 goes on sale this March in Japan for 270,000 Yen ($ 2250).
