Life in Japan could be harsh with its un-predictable earthquake incidences and the constant annoyance associated with being alert. NTT has come up with an early Urgent Earthquake Bulletin service, which warns of an earthquake via a pop up screen showing the estimated time of arrival along with its intensity, all the while sounding an alarm. There is a standalone version too called the Urgent Earthquake News Flash FLET'S Type. It features flashing LED lights and an audible alarm indicating a quake warning and the quake arrival time and a countdown which are announced in case of an emergency.
