The world of Augmented Reality has just been rocked really hard by Microsoft’s latest development. They’ve just demoed a working concept of a portable projector like device that can convert any surface into a multi-touch 3D interface for your mobile device, smartphone, netbook etc. This ‘Mobile Surface’ tool will project an image onto any surface and allow you to interact with the information displayed. The demo showcased how users can actually make music off of this system with a full blown drum kit that you can be used with either your fingers or a set of drumsticks. It’s just fantastic. The fact that it could be integrated into mobile devices or simply be a standalone accessory is even more brilliant. Viva la AR!
