Norton gets gamer friendly with the Gaming Edition antivirus

dr-mario-antivirus_1.jpg Every computer user knows its suicide to run a PC nowadays without real-time virus, spyware, and firewall protection. There are just too many threats and exploits out there that can make their way into an unprotected system on a moment's notice. For a PC gamer it's not that easy either. Alongside the constant hardware arms race and GPU comparison envy. There is the added problem of a lousy antivirus running in the background using up precious resources and slowing the game. Norton Antivirus is very well known software for causing this headache to gamers; it seems they have decided to listen to their gaming consumers after all. Norton will be launching a special Gaming Edition of their 2009 antivirus software. The company is boasting of an 80% reduction in resource management and the usual faster better stronger line.

The software will even feature a user configurable 'Gamers Mode', which will halt all update, downloads and antivirus alerts. The Gaming Edition antivirus will be available free for all current Norton users.
