At the 3GSM in Barcelona Nokia announced the 6131 a promising new entrant to Nokia's mid-range handsets. The Quadband GSM (EDGE/850/900/1800/1900) clamshell opens up at the push of a button to unveil a large, high-resolution true color QVGA display that supports 16 million colors ideal for viewing Multimedia rich content. The external display is capable of displaying 262k colors. You can enjoy your favourite music with the built-in digital music player and FM stereo radio supporting Visual Radio. It has a 1.3 Megapixel camera with 8x digital zoom and a dedicated camera button for easy of use. Both the main and cover displays can be used as viewfinder. The 6131 sports Bluetooth connectivity, Email client supporting attachments and hot swap Micro SD card slot.

The Nokia 6131 has Nokia Xpress audio messaging and push to talk connectivity. It is expected to be released in Q2 2006 for 275 Euros ($ 325) however an American version will be released by the end of the year.
